We obtain HTML data stored within Sharepoint 2010 and use it within categorized reports. Certain category reports are failing with an Assert error (see below), which typically means no data. However, there is data, and we believe that an invalid character (or two) are being introduced via Sharepoint 2010, and when Actuate encounters the bad characters, the data gets wiped out. Prior to December, we were obtaining our source from Sharepoint 2007. Another department upgraded where the web content is being stored, and now use Sharepoint 2010, and now we have our problem. No going back. This HTML formatted data is an extended description of items that we sell. Our reports pick up the formatting and displays these descriptions in a nice, professional format, when it works (and it works form some categories).
I've written a SQL script that interogates each ASCII character within an intermediate database table that our Actuate report obtains the data directly from. That database gets it's data from Sharepoint 2010 through a separate SQL extract process. I just do not know what characters to search for that might be causing the Actuate Assert error. We are storing HTML tags within the database table. Certain category reports work and others don't, and it is probably because they do not have the bad characters. Has anyone else have this issue? Any ASCII characters that yo know will choke Actuate? According to Actuate Tech Support, all are suppose to be supported, but I am suspect. Please help.
