Activity Record update

I have a database that I can generate mail merges to multible clients. As part of the database I have an activity table which shows what activity I have carried out for any client i.e. "Made cold call", "Sent new product Letter". How do I update the activity table for the clients that I have sent letters to showing the date and subject?

Your help would be greatly appeciated.

I use a query based on the catergory of the client i.e. retailer, bank.
