ActiveX To Run An EXE

Hi guys,
I need an application to run when a user clicks a link on our company intranet, but, I don't want IE to display the "Save as, run" options. I've had a Google and I think the best thing to do would be to use Active X. Anyone had any experience of getting an exe to run through IE without the prompting?
