Hi, I've been researching this for a bit and I've had no luck so far. I need to create a control to be able to read a device attached to a serial port on a client's PC.

The idea is this: The user start the app (browser) and on one of the screens is a button that when clicked will hopefully read the COM port. It has to be on the client, not the webserver.

Any pointers/hints greatly appreciated.

TIA, Patrick

if your going to go with activeX i would ask in an activeX forum. (silverlight may be an option as well). either way neither of these technologies directly effect the asp.net (or webforms) framework. you may have better luck in a forum dedicated to them.
