I'm using MS Access 2002 and am trying to link an Excel file into an existing Access Database. When I try to do it, it give s the above error - any ideas?

Thanks

Normally means it cant find the DLL it is referencing.

Go into Tools > References (from any code screen) and make sure none are marked as MISSING

Could try re-installing/Repairing Excel, ensureing all the options are selected.

I'm having the same sort of trouble. When I try and open a DB I get the "Run Time Error 429; ActiveX component cannot create object" error. (The DB can be opened successfully from another PC).

I checked the reference library and found no type or object library missing. Thinking a DLL may have been corrupted, I then re-installed Access, but the problem still exists.

I found this document in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, and I'm trying to avoid messing with the registries.

Anyone else able to fix this problem?

niallo32,
I was able to resolve the 429 error by following the directions in faq705-2882. It can be found here:

FYI, make sure you enter the text exactly as described in the faq. (Use the ~1 for the folder names, not the actual folder names.) Otherwise it won't work.

Good luck!
