Activesync not working for users moved to 2007 server

Hi,

We have three WAN inter-connected sites. Two main sites running 2003 (site A has the Internet connection). Added site C (new office) and put in first 2007 server. Mailflow seems ok, but when we moved the mailboxes from B to C, the Activesync stopped working.
Mail flow goes from site A, to site B, to site C.

Should this work?

Any ideas?

Yes Activesync will break because of the certificate. Your valid cert resides on your Exchange 2k3 server. You need to setup a valid certificate on your Exchange 2k7 server for activesync to work properly.

 
Even if that 2007 mail server is not exposed to the outside?

Only the 2003 server in site A has the external connection.

Yes, because OWA for the 07 mailboxes is on the 07 server which is a different IIS install. So you need certificates on both.

I think you can either move everyone to 07. Or you might need to explore a FE/BE setup.
 
Not talking OWA here; that works fine for those users on 2007.

I have a 2003 FE server that hosts for ActiveSync. For some reason the mailboxes on 2007 don't respond to the ActiveSync requests (I have conformed that the users are properly authenticated through the 2003 FE box).

So here's the answer.

You can't front end a 2007 CAS server with a 2003 FE for remote services. Period.

Well that just stinks! So your solution is to completely migrate to 2007? Or downgrade back to 03 for all users? Just curious.
 
I am bringing up a 2007 CAS in a VM to service my 2007 users to run in parallel with the 2003 FE box (for my 2003 users)until I can get everyone company wide migrated to 2007.

VM...nice! Hope it all works out. Sorry there wasn't a better solution.
