ActiveSync and Exchange on smartphone

Does anyone know what settings in Exchange and a firewall are necessary so that a smartphone will be able to sync with our corporate Exchange Server 2003? The model I am looking at is the PalmOne Treo 650. Microsoft also has a statement on their website mentioning it, but no technical information.
Any help would be apreciatied
