Our Windows Mobile devices have been syncing just fine with our Exchange 2003 SP2 machine for two years.. something last night in the wee hours of the morning changed all that.

No changes were made on the Exchange server.
No changes in Active Directory properties.
No changes on our firewall.
No changes in security certs.

about 20 of our 40 pda's don't work. the ones that do, still work perfectly. their the exact same os level and everything.

Strange thing is, if I hook a pda to a pc that is NOT on the local lan, has a verizon wireless broadband card, the phone can then sync. If I unplug the phone and sync I get the error:

"Waiting for network" "The server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporary network conditions." "support code: 0x80072EFD"

I've been through every link on google that returns a hit on this error. Nothing is working for me.

When the phone gets this error, it can still access any webpage out there, except our mail servers address of and /oma - they just get page load error. If I plug the phone up to a PC so it uses it as a gateway, it works just fine.

I've rebooted our exchange server and our asa firewall.

I'm at a complete loss here.....

Check the certificate. Check the last updates applied to Exchange in case you are running Windows updates on automatic.
