I have a eVB application I created to run on Pocket PC. Using activesync I can sync my pocket access to my Access database on my desktop. The problem is I don't want everything to sync. Some items I just want to be copied from the pda to my desktop. For instance, while in the field I gather info on my clients and store it in pocket access. When I get back to the office I would like to be able to sync the info and clear the pda so it doesn't have to store all of that data. I haven't found a way to configure activesync to make tables on my pda read-only. But there is an option to make the destop Access tables read-only. Any ideas?

bcw let me know how you go with this, I am trying to do the same thing.

I was never able to find a good solution. What I ended up doing was creating a button in my eVB application that deleted all the info in the tables I didn't want to carry on my PDA. It's an extra step the user has to take after they sync but it's the best I could come up with. I think you could probably have the code launch when activesync is finished but haven't looked into it. You have to be careful with the Access database if you do it this way. When they sync the PDA will try to delete all the info in the acess database. I set the security on the Access database so some of the tables couldn't have info deleted. Let me know if you find a better way.

Bcw thought you maybe be able to help me with this query, I am trying to do exactly what it is you have done:

I want to copy one CDB file from the PocketPC to the Desktop computer and then copy a clean version of the file onto the PocketPC from the Desktop computer.

The problem I am having is trying to work out how to write a bit of code in VB that will do this, I mean the copying part is easy but copying from the Mobile unit is a bit difficult, do you have any ideas.

ie C Drive = c:\ A Drive = A:\ Mobile Device = ??

Thanks for your help
