I downloaded ActivePerl, and I'm having a heck of a time getting it to work in Apache. Im on Windows 2000.

My other questions are, how do I map a CGI-BIN alias to another folder? is it done automaticly? b/c my local host, when I goto cgi-bin, it shows it as forbidden, but when I throw a file into the c:/prog.../apache/.../cgi-bin/file.html nothing works?

Help! :)

On that page, for the ActivePerl, you have the instructions:

"Run the installer for this and install it to /usr/ or /usr/local/ or whatever your current server uses for the path to perl. Do not add the /bin/perl part..."

I dont know what that is exactly... what is the default on the 1.3.24? And if so, how do I install my Perl to it?

Hi mate,

Sorry, I did not mention the fact that that post was originally for setting up apache for testing before the files were uploaded to the users other server..

Install perl to wherever you require, that is up to you.. The normal is /usr/bin/perl or /usr/local/bin/perl

This will save you the hassle of changing any paths on your scripts..

Set the installer to either /usr or /usr/local The installer adds the rest of the path..

Hope this helps Wullie

okay, Im in the ActivePerl installer, install directory, I hit browse (its default C:/PERL/), I type in /usr/bin/perl, but nothing happens, it says its an invalid location?

Do I install it to C:/PERL and change something? or what?

This is where I've been confused
