Active X warning in outlook express help needed.

One friend of mine, and me, each time we reply to the other's  mail we get pop ups saying something on this page won't be displayed something about active x. Some kind soul out here for heaven's sake reply to this and keep me from reformatting my machine one more time. Why do we get active x pop up? Is this a virus we pass between us? Is this a missing file? HELP an old woman before she loses it.
