Is there a way to push the install to all of the clients instead of having to install the viewer on each individual client. We have users that would be very confused by the Active X install.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What product are you using?

If you are using Enterprise, and the users will be using the ActiveX viewer when viewing reports, the first thing that will happen is a system check to see if the viewer is installed and/or the version.

If it needs to be installed/updated the server will push the viewer down and install it. The user will be prompted for this. Normal browser deal here.

The only other option would be to install the viewer locally on each machine, but this could be more laborious than letting the server do it.

Essentially, you would have to take all of the files from the ActiveXviewer.cab and manually register them on the client (or try to create your own install)

I thought I saw a KB on this, but for some reason I can not find it now. sorry

The install is very easy, but with my users I am trying to get around any step that I can, as well as the users do not have local admin rights on their machines so they can not install the software. We could put them in a temp admin group, but how long do you leave them there, etc etc. We may just have to install it at each PC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is using ActiveX needed...If printing is not an issue, then DHTML is truly client friendly.
