I'm not a programmer but i'm having serious Active X problems. Here's my story:

I formatted my drive, all went relatively well.
Installed MS NT (latest service pack), Office 2000, Internet Explorer 5.00.231.1003, and several other industry specific programs.

Now, when I try to access my Office 2000 help files I get the following error message (with an Internet Explorer Header)
"This page provides potentially unsafe info to an active X control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result pages may not display correctly."

The page displays properly but it will not run macros.
I have tried to reduce the IE security settings to low bu the problem still persists.

Also, a side note. Whether it's related or not I don't know but I am unable to run any jave applets as well as install/run shockwave and flash items.

I'm at wits end (nothing new with MS i guess)

I am in the process of implementing an Active-X based application that is made up of a series of controls that are downloaded on a one - per - screen basis.

At the same time, we are migrating to Windows 2000 which is stringent on what it will allow members of the Users group to install - ie nothing at all. Setting users up as power users is undesirable because the "standard" setup of pc's will be infringed.

Any advice welcome.
