What procedures do you all follow if you have to set up a voicemail box in MM that is not associated with a user? For example - an inclement weather line? Or, the main number of a business where you have a standard every day greeting but needs to be changed if the office is temporarily closed. Are you using Active Directory and creating the box or do you use Caller Applications?

You use a caller app to set this up. It can be tricky until you have seen one done or do one or 2 but they are fairly easy

The Caller App seems simple enough for the boxes that will not change; however, what about the ones that will have different messages - i.e, the weather line one day may state the office is open during normal operating hours, but the next day it may need to changed stating it is closed? Do you create a different app for each one and if so, that means I'll be the one having to do this all the time! That's why I like the active directory option better. :) Unless I'm missing something here...now, through Audix, it is the responsibility of the receptionists and/or office managers to change their greetings.

You setup the users mailbox to record the application prompt so they can change it any time from within their own mailbox

Not sure how you would do this from AD.

you can setup multiple caller apps using different announcements from the same mailbox or different mailboxes(up to 99 announcements per mailbox). So if you setup a weather line and you want that to be the responsibility of the receptionist, just setup the announcement to come from the receptionist's mailbox but make sure to enable the announcement edit ability (in the advanced button if you are using MM for Exchange).
