Hi All,

Need your advice regarding this issue. I have 2 servers (win 2003 server) with reportnet and 1 database server hosting oracle 10g. One of them is hosting the reportnet gateway component and the web server (IIS), the other is hosting the reportnet report server and CM server components. I have tried configuring active directory twice and setting anonymous access to 'False', but I always seem to get the following error at crnserver.log:

<![CDATA[CM-CFG-5076 A Content Manager configuration error occurred during the initialization of Cognos Access Manager.
CAM-AAA-0145 There is no namespace that is properly configured for authentication.
CAM-AAA-0146 The namespace 'AD' is not available.
CAM-AAA-0064 The function 'CAM_AAA_Configure' failed.
CAM-AAA-0043 The LDAP directory server '10.236.136.21':'389' is not running.
ADSI Error HRESULT Returns:
ERROR_DS_SERVER_DOWN
ADSI Error:

System Error:
The server is not operational.
]]>

Btw, is it necessary for the 2 servers and the oracle database server containing the CM data store to be in the same active directory domain as now, only the server with CM server & report server component is in the active directory.

Please advise. =)

~Regards~

You are trying to configure a component that you have not listed in your installation !

Access Manager requires to a Netscape directory server or an Active directory server ( more complex installation can have 3rd party authentication).

Access Manager is not a pre-requised to have reportnet up and running. You can use directly an active directory server or anything else existing in the security settings.

Hi,

Hmmm .. but there are only 3 components in the Reportnet CD. THe gateway, report server and CM server component. There isn't an access manager component which I can check.

I need to connect to AD server .. do I need Access Manager? If so, how can I install it?

Please help. =)

If you want to connect to Active directory server , you don't need Access Manager.
You can select directly in the security settings , when creating NEW the active directory server.

Yes, I did that. But I still cannot get it to connect properly. Any advice?

Have been going through all these steps ??
Configure an Active Directory Namespace
You can configure an Active Directory namespace and set it up to provide details when authentication fails.
Steps
1. On every computer where you installed Content Manager, open Cognos Configuration.
2. In the Explorer window, under Security, right-click Authentication, and click New resource,Namespace.
3. In the Name box, type a name for your authentication namespace.
4. In the Type list, click the appropriate namespace and then click OK.
The new authentication provider resource appears in the Explorer window, under the Authentication component.
5. In the Properties window, for the Namespace ID property, specify a unique identifier for the namespace.
6. Specify the values for all other required properties to ensure that ReportNet can locate and use your existing authentication provider.
7. Specify the values for the Host and port property.
8. If you want to be able to search for details when authentication fails, specify the user ID and password for the Binding credentials property.
Use the credentials of an Active Directory Server user who has search and read privileges for that server.
9. From the File menu, click Save.

Yes. I have gone through this. It does not seem to work and I don't know why. Please advise.
