Can anyone tell me exactly what functions the ADC performs. I upgrade from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 over a year ago. Prior to that upgrade I created the ADC one way connection. Since then I have upgrade to Exchange SP2, I'm now ready to upgrade to SP3. I have a Front-End and Back-End Exchange 2000 setup, I have no Exchange 5.5 servers. I still have the mode set to Mixed.

Is the ADC required if you you nolonger have any Exchange 5.5 servers?

Do I need to upgrade the ADC to the SP3 version, I didn't do this when I went to SP2...

Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

First let me state the definition from the E2K RC:

Active Directory Connector:

(ADC) A Windows 2000 service that replicates the Exchange 5.5 directory with Active Directory. This allows administration of a directory from either Active Directory or the Exchange 5.5 directory serivce.

Knowing this, and what you have stated before, I would say you can safely remove the Active Directory Connector. It is my understanding that the ADC is only used in Mixed Mode. If you are in a Native W2K/E2K environment then the ADC is no longer necessary.

Hope this helps.
