active directorory used for maintenace automation

hi all. want to know if any one knows if you can write a script in AD to automate things like emptying temp files, defrag, chkdsk to be scheduled at regular intervals. any help would be appreciated. do not want to use third party software. it would be a native windows 2000 domain.
