Active Desktop Item not Created

I have a machine where when i try and add an Active desktop i get the follwoing message

"The Active Desktop item was not created"

Anyone got any ideas.

Personally I'm going to need more information.....Version of Windows, what ACTIVE item are you trying to install? Is Active Desktop enabled in the display settings....

Yep sorry.

Its an XP pro machine.

Active desktop is installed.

When i selet display properties, desktop, customize and then web i put a tick int he box and then get the error
