I'm testing some webpages (that contain Javascript) locally on my hard disc, and every time I open the webpage IE says it's blocked the active content - click here for more options, and I can then enable the active content.

How can I turn that option off so that it doesn't warn me all the time?

If you think nobody cares you're alive, try missing a couple of mortgage payments

Tools > Internet Options > highlight Internet > select Custom Level > choose "Enable" where "Prompt" is selected

I believe carr intended the change only in the sub-section 'Active Scripting'.....

If this is XP and SP2 is installed there is a possibility that you need to amend your local lockdown controls through a registry edit.

But start with Internet Options.

Thanks.

I set all options in the Scripting branch to Enabled if they were set to Prompt, but the warning bar still appears.

If I upload the test files and run them over the internet I don't get this restriction, it's only when I want to preview the pages locally from the C drive.

Also, make the same Custom Level changes on the Intranet site as you did for the Internet sites. (click the second icon in the Security tab display).

It's XP Home with SP2 installed.

I changed all settings in Intranet to Enabled but it still comes up.

It says, 'Click here to change the options' and I can allow blocked content, but it only applies for as long as that instance of IE is open, it's not a permanent enabling - which is what I'm after.

AAARRRRGGHHHH I have tried all that has been suggested and I still can' get pdf files to open from a CD and also a piece of web enabled software to work just keeps telling me the same eror message.

Any more tips???

Getting very frustrated now as I need the software to do business!!!

Did you unblock the Acrobat ActiveX control in the Add-on Manager? Tools, Manage Add-ons.

The registry value for 1200 is already set to 0 on my machine.

I can't understand why I get the block when I view this page locally and yet I don't get the block if I upload it to my webspace and then view it.

There can be up to four registry locations for the 1200 lockdown.

I'm not too sure if this question was ever answered to everyone's satisfaction, but just in case it ever comes up again:

In Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab, and then scroll down to the Security section.

The Allow active content from CD's to run on My Computer and Allow active content to run in files on My Computer check boxes provide the ability to disable the Local Machine restrictions for CD-ROM content or for local drives, respectively.
Note: The Allow active content from CD's to run on My Computer and Allow active content to run in files on My Computer options were enabled to enhance security in Internet Explorer. Disabling them should only be used as a last resort.
