Active and nonactive users

I wanna know whether I can set users as active or nonactive or not. I know that in the database architecture of the LearningSpace 4.o1 there is a field called U_ACTIVE or so, but the explanation that appears says that it would be for future actions. It´s very important to me to know if I can figure that out because the licensing policy is per user not per access and if a student get ill or so I can desactivate him/her.
