Activation of a movie clip

I built a site for a company that uses flash as navigation. I noticed today that there is a gray box appearing around the movie/navigation... a small message box appears when you hover the mouse over it saying to activate the control by hitting the spacebar or enter. Is this some annoying feature that has recently been added by macromedia or IE for security measures? If so, is there anyway to turn the stupid thing off?
