Activating Ext 1

Hi. I know this is supposed to be simple, but I haven't done this in a long time. How do I activate an extension? It's extension 14. Thank you.

Like I said, I haven't worked on these in years. It just so happened that someone asked me to add extension 14 so that they could use it.

Is this a fixed number system? Is it just a wiring issue? Thanks.

Depending on the type of Merlin system you are working on. If it is a Merlin II, Merlin Legend, or Merlin Magix, it would have ot be programmed and wired to the port. If it is and Merlin 206, 410, 820, 1030, or Plus, you need to wire it to the port and it becomes extension 14. Hope this helps!

It's a Magix. So what programming menus do i need to go to in order to get this working? Thanks.

I am assuming that you know the type of phone and, based on type, what kind of port you need to plug it into. 44XX series go to the TDL modules, MLX to MLX, ETR to ETR designated ports, and S/L to S/L tip and ring ports. 44XX series and S/L sets require only one pair. Punch do3wn to the corresponding port for the TDL and S/L just plug into the switch. MLX (supported requires 4 pair) and ETR work with 2 pairs. Plug in the cable and pundh the corresponding pairs down to the jack you wish to activate.
To verify extension, dial a display phone. IF it needs to be renumbered from a 3-digit or 4-digit extension:

SYS PROGRAM
START
SYS RENUMBER
SINGLE
EXTENSION
[ ENTER OLD/EXISTING EXTENSION NUMBER ]
[ ENTER ]
[ INPUT EXTENSION NUMBER YOU WOULD LIKE IT TO BE ]
[ ENTER ]
