Can anyone tell me how to edit the cos and activate call record on a NAM 4.0 through a 7310 set. I have tried to connect to the NAM with a laptop using Vmail Manager. When I click connect the screen minimizes but the GUI never comes up. Thanks for any help you can provide.

The only way to edit a cos value through a handset is to upgrade to NVM4.1
Feature 983
login
press mbox
press 1
COS: enter 1 thru 16
Happy editing

Does the NAM have a NIC port?
If it has Voicemail Manager enabled, you should be able to change them.

Most V3G's have this enabled from the factory. If no NIC, then your out of luck without an upgrade. Not even sure if you can buy that anymore. I know the keycode to upgrade it MD according to Nortel.

If you have the NIC installed the default IP address on a NIC enabled NVM is 192.168.110.10 maybe your computer is not on the correct IP subnet to talk to the NVM.
Normally you would use a crossover cable on a laptop and change your laptop IP to something like 192.168.110.11 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
Fire up NVM manager enter the IP address 192.168.110.10
password = system manager mailbox combo example 1020000.
Once the application fires up you will see a small GUI with some menus.
An upgrade to 4.1 might be easier.

When I launch the VMail manager, my laptop connects to the NAM, the window then minimizes and in the task bar it shows the IP address of the NAM. I tried it on another system and was able to connect fine. The NAM in question was an old 1.0 copper NAM that was upgraded to 4.0. Is it possible the when the supplier upgraded it they didn't install the VMail manager. I will try to edit the COS by going into F983. Thanks for your help.

F983 only works with 4.1. Your only option on the older versions is the NIC port and NVM.

You won't be able to use record a call on a NAM 1.0 that was upgraded to a NAM 4.0. You need a new style NAM that has a MS-BIC card with four PCMCIA slots built into it. Than a MS-PEC (Media Services Processor Expansion Card) needs to be installed in the last available slot.
