ACT record to Excel

Does anyone know if it's possible to export 1 Act record to Excel?

I owuld like to add an extra button to the toolbar on top, whereupon clicking it, the current contact would be exported to an Excel file.

Could anyone point me in the right direction here?

If you want to do it yourself you can always download the ACT! SDK (

http://www.act.com/support/updates/index.cfm?DOWNLOAD=114)

and code it yourself.

Now if all you want to do is get the main contact information from ACT! to Excel and you do not need to map fields try this:
1. Lookup the Contact
2. Make sure the mouse cursor is in the Company or Contact field then "Ctrl"+"C"
3. Then in Excel click on the cell you want the data to start in then "Ctrl"+"V"

This will paste the following information: Contact Name, Company Name, Address, City, Province/State, Postal Code/Zip and Phone number.

You can also use the Export tool (in File >> Data Exchange menu, I believe) to export the current lookup or your current record to a delimited text file (I've found that Tab-delimited works best), and then you can have Excel import that file. Easy and no 3rd party tools required.

This doesn't work well if you have a large number of fields, though. Our database is filled beyond its normal capacity, coming in at about 850 fields (and >30k records), so when exporting, I have to pick and choose which fields I want to export so that Excel can import it correctly.
