Is there a way for ACT to be opened up to a specific record? In other words rather than act.exe, or whatever the file name is, is there a parameter I can give it so that ACT would open up and go t a specif record? Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Hello dgillz,
Out of the box ACT! does not have capability. However, you can do the following:
1. Record a macro doing the lookup that is required and then have that macro run on start-up
2. Use the ACT! SDK can create custom code to do what you need.

Regards,
Michael

Michael,

Can the ACT! SDK read another ODBC database, and based on its value, change the record displayed? Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

dgillz,

Yes & No.

The Act SDK cannot read an external DB. But you can do this with your own code.

When using the Act! SDK You'll be writing a program in VB or VBScript. You would initialize the Act Application Object to open the application to a certain record. You can use some basic programming to set the start-up record that you are passing to act via the SDK.

The only function of the SDK is to give you an interface by which to control act.
