I just started a new job and one of my responsibilities is installing ACT!. I have zero experience with this application and I seem to be running into some difficulties. I turned off the firewall and installed ACT as an admin. I updated ACT and logged in under the ACT admin name. When I try to connect ACT with the .pad, which is located on a server, I get an error saying the db needs to be updated. There are always 3-5 users on ACT during the day, and the applications says they need to be logged out for me to do the update. My question is, do I really need to do an update? The other users are having no problems using ACT, so why does adding a user mean I have to update the db? Will I have problems with the other users if I do the update? Any help/answers will be greatly appreciated. I have a ton of questions regard ACT, but I will try to ask them one at a time. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Most likely, this means that you have updaed to a later version than the users... you can check this by looking at Help | About on the different systems.

My recomendation would be to backup the database, then update it. Then update the users with the latest patch.

Make sure you are looking at the server database to be sure also
