ACT Import dropping data

I have been trying for some time now to merge contacts from one program into ACT! 6.0 and the problem that I am running into is that I have all of the data in a CSV file (a little over 1000 contacts) but when I import the data into ACT! it's only importing 600 contacts. I've even tried breaking the file into several smaller CSV files (100 contacts each) but it will only import 60-70% of those. The contacts that do import seem to have all of the data. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP BEFORE I LOOSE ALL OF MY HAIR AND MY JOB!!!
