ACT fields appear encrypted in Crystal, why?

i have a vb routine that transfers data from ACT to SQL Server. Some fields are transfered are encrypted. Is there a way to get the correct field names in the SQL server?
I have also tried connecting directly to ACT but it slows down reports.
