I'd like to build an ASP data connection to our ACT! database for use on our intranet. I have seen, in the ACT! Developers kit, the ACTOLE.dll, which allows an OLE connection, but the documentation seems somewhat cryptic. For instance, I see that all of the fields in the ACT! database are assigned unique numbers, but I don't understand why(!), and I don't know how to find the unique numbers for the fields that I have added to the database that are not standard fields.

Am I making this harder than it is, or is there an easier way to access the data (perhaps via ODBC)?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
