ACT! 5.0 - Data loss

(I have no experience in ACT --- but I do create MS Access databases and due to that I was pulled into this problem.)

A rep in our office uses ACT! and states that all data dated after 12/1/03 is gone. The rep also states that the entire screen appears to be different - like display settings and tabs are missing as well.

Could he have possible deleted this data? If so, how?

(This problem has been going on for roughly 2 months.) Thanks in advance for any assistance.

A few things I've encountered with different users:

Does the user in question synchronize with a Palm Pilot? I have had issues with users doing that and either deleting information created since the last sync date, or duplicating all the records. If the user is, you will need to tweak the Palm settings.

Tabs at the bottom may be missing because the scroll bar is covering them. It just needs to be resized.

What type of display settings are missing? Could it be a layout file and not the display?
