ACT 2007 - Mail merge problems

Morning,

Just installed Act! (ACT! Professional 8.0 Version 8.0.2.81).

Whenever I try to mail merge either a letter or an E-mail, it appears to work, but in Act! I then get a 'Access Denied' message and when I ok to that, Act! is hanging with a 'Merge Complete' message that won't go away so I have to kill it.

Using Windows Vista Business. The thing that I have noticed is that the Act! templates folder is marked as read only. when I change it, it has changed back when I go back again.

Sorry if this is a bit of a newbie question, the links to answers posted in a previous post relate to a Citrix installation which I don't have.

Your subject says ACT! 2007, but this is 9.0 and your body says 8.0

ACT! 2006 (8.0) won't run properly under Vista as it uses Microsoft SQL 2000 and Microsoft won't update SQL 2000 to run under Vista. You'll need to upgrade to ACT! 9.0 or 10.0
