Greetings,

I'm working with the above version on a machine described as follows:
WinXP SP2, AMD Athlon 1GHz, 1GB RAM.

The machine will successfully send, from a network database, an email merge of about 15 contacts. When tried with 70, the merge stuck at Sending 1 of 70.

My first step in troubleshooting will be in reinstall ACT. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? The system seems a bit low on hardware to me, but it does meet ACT's minimum requirements I believe.

Thanks in adavance,

~Melagan

Havn't checked Windows Error Log, but no displayed error - the system just hangs on 1 of XX where XX is > than about 20. They let it sit for an hour before giving up.

I'd check the error log first.

Have you also tries a completely different set of contacts?
How about a different database (eg demo database)?

I did not try a different database because other computers with similar configurations use the same shared database without email merge problems. Normally I would have, but I was only there for 30 minutes [hourglass]

When I go back, I'll have a handful of things to check. Thanks!

Posiblities:
1. There is a bad record in the data you are trying to merge to
2. The resources on the system are running low and it's crashing

Well here I am again, and can not even get the software reinstalled. I have completely uninstalled everything involved in this installation - .net framework 1.1 and ACT 2006 files.

The program reinstalls without a problem but when you first launch it, following error message is displayed.

"Method not found: Act.Shared.Licensing.LicenseManager Act.Framework.ActFramework.Get_LicenseManager()"

I have looked all over the internet for a reference to this error message and found nothing. I assume ACT is trying to load the module that asks for serial number and activiation, etc. Once you click OK on the dialogue box, though, the program quits. We never get the opportunity to register/activate.

On reinstalling, no antivirus / firewalls were enabled and the account has admin rights. There is nothing in the event log.

I'm tempted to reinstall windows. grr.

Thanks in advance, again,

A complete manual (by hand) uninstall and reinstall did the trick. I found instructions for uninstalling here.

Hopefully the reinstall will help with the original email merge issue. We'll see.
