ACT! 2005 running at a crawl

I have a network of 15 computers. They want to run ACT! 2005 but every time we go to start it it takes FOREVER to come up. What could be causing this?

The shortcuts for ACT! 2005 point to actrunner.exe. Change it to point to act.exe.

What network?
What OS (server/workstations)?
How much RAM (server/workstations)?
How big page file (server / workstations)? - should be 2GB or double the RAM, whichever is bigger.
How fast hard drives (server / workstations)? - should be 7200rpm or faster for best ACT! speed and be defragged.

You'll also find that ACT! 9.0 (2007) is much faster than ACT! 7.0 (2005)
