I admined the act db and deleted some users. I did not ressign the contacts(bad). I now need those contacts plus notes back(the notes are the most important)into the database that has been added to for 1 week. What is the easiest way to do this? I do not want to restore the old database over the existing one since the existing one has had changes to it. Since the db deleted the contacts for 1 specific user, is there a way to get those contacts plus all collateral data(notes, history, documents emailed etc) and import those into the existing db without causing damage to the existing db?

The other thought is to restore the old db and add the changes that have occured over the past five days-that might be less of a hassle. Then I would need to be able to find out what records had changed during the last five days and what would need to be manually added to the db to make it whole again.

Thank you-I appreciate anyone's insight.

You could try restoring the old DB to a temp location, then run a lookup by user (this would be the record creator field I believe). Once you are satisfied you have located all of the records that you need to restore and you have a lookup of those records, you can export just those contacts:

Click File/Data Exchange/Export
File type: TXT Delimited
Click Next.

Select the export options you wish. I recommend Contact Records Only, and under Options, select to export the field names.

Click Next. Select Current Lookup (critical step here). Click Next again.

Select the fields you want to export (ie. all of 'em), and click Finish.

You will then need to go to Data Exchange/Import on your existing database to bring them all in. You will be shown as the owner of the records.

I hope this helps!
