I want to use CR against an ASCII data source, but since I am new to all of this, I am not sure how to go about with the set up, or even what I need to do. I cannot find doc. on this at all, although I read that it is possible. Do I need to import the file into a database, or can I somehow use the ASCII file directly? The file is fixed length fields and not comma-delimited.

Thank you in advance!

Create an ODBC source (Start, Settings, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, Data Sources) Add...
Pick Microsoft Text Driver...

Thanks, Ido, I've done the ODBC thing, but please to help the handicapped. Now what? Where do I define the file structure so that CR can use it?? And where in CR do I go to see my data source? I am VERY new to this! I have much to learn! :~/
Thanks again in advance!

Once you get into the ODBC Text Setup dialog,
click on the "Options" button. Then select "Define Format..."
