On an ACS Rel 7.0,, if someone is using a Voice mail other than a normal partner card/module ,, say like a verizon VM that picks up or a basic answering machine, how do you go about getting the ACS to recognize that you have a message and then trigger the LED on the phone?? programing steps or any feedback would be most helpful!!

The LED will work with local voicmail systems, but I don't think that it will light in conjunction with the LEC provided voicemail service.

Aside from purchasing a voicemail unit for the Partner system, caller ID/call waiting ID units---like the AT&T 436---have an indicator that will let you know when you have a voicemail waiting in a LEC voicemail box.

If the office is a small operation, the Partner Voice Messaging is a nice alternative. [smile]

One point of clarification. The AT&T 436 would need to be wired externally to the Partner system. The wires could be run from the Bell demarc to wherever the units are to be located.

partner isnt going to recognize the strutter dialtone produced by telco ,

there are after market units that will like dexman suggested but whats the big deal about checking for stutter DT ?

as to a answering machine , put it in a comman place or next to someones desk .
