Are these compatible? The info I had said yes, but when I installed the voicemail to an existing system, all I get is an amber light on the vm card. As I remeber, doesnt that mean that the card is in the wrong slot? I tried all of the 4 slots, and same thing....

You must have the port license card installed, AND the VM ports assigned to hunt group 7. Remember that ports on Messaging count down from the top, as opposed to VS Mail, which counts bottom up.

Don't skip any slots, put it in the last active slot.

I tried the port license in both slots. All the other Par MEss i have installed have always gone straight to a green light after the hard drive boots, BEFORE i program #505. Even when the light was amber, I tried all the ports for that slot, they all rang busy.

Hi telecomtekperson,
The Messaging R6 and R7 need to be able to "talk" the the switch before the light turns green. In other words, Hunt group 7 needs to be properly programmed.

The unit should answer the ring and indicate test mode. I bet if you connect a computer running hyperterminal to the RS-232 port you will get an error message. I have run into two R6's where the hard drive controller gave an error. May the the HD but the error is the same.

Connect a computer and let us know what you find.

If you can, get yourself a 355af adapter and use hyperterminal. Plug into the RS232 port on the Messaging. I had two messaging systems already with an IDE Failure. The only to see if this is the issue is to plug in....and boot the messaging system...either power down the partner or #728. If you get the rolling screen of IDE failure, then you have a hardware issue my friend. Just some notes from my past experience.
