customer has a large partner messaging pc card and ACS 6.0 -The voicemail msg light indicator always stays lit on with extensions 10 and 11 even though there are no messages in the boxes..

everything works perfect and it takes messages, its just the light is always on and they want it to work like its supposed to. I called in remotely and reset the mailboxes and still the same problem. had them unplug the system for half a minute as well with no luck

Anyone have this problem before? do I need to change the vm card or possibly the ACS processor

Since card mail has no general mailboxes to worry about, turn them off manually, and see if they stay off.

Feature-10-Extension Number

Oh Thats awesome! Never knew that code!

I'm heading out there today. Will let you know if that works and also taking another processor and Large card out there just in case..

Any more thoughts or suggestions?

When I manually turned the light off, then it wouldn't come back on when there was a message left and when I would do feature 09 to manually turn the light on it won't go off when all of the messages are erased

It is only happening on ext 10 and 12 which are mailboxes 1 and 3 all of the other Extensions voicemail box indicating lights work properly

Any other thoughts? Sounds like this is a problem with the processor and not the voicemail card.. I'd hate to charge the customer to replace an ACS processor for such a tiny issue. Is there a way to reset the programming of just one extension? They have 29 phones total so I'd like to not have to reset the whole system to factory defaults.

Try reinitiating both mailboxes.
If that does not work.
Change number of mailboxes in the system to a different number, reboot ACS, change number back to original number of mailboxes.
I definetly seen what you described. Above was my solution.

thanks ignat,

When I was out there the other day I tried everything you mentioned, just not in the exact sequence you listed. I rebooted the acs. reinitialized both mailboxes, defualted the voicemail by cutting down the # of mailboxes and then returning it to 16 boxes.. none of that worked, do you think doing the steps in the order you mentioned above is the key to fixing it?

Usually you dont even need to reboot after changing the number of mailboxes. So I am assuming the sequence doesnot matter.
If this did not work lets try following.
Remove VM card. Dont put it back.
Turn on ACS
What happened to the light?
If light dissapeared we are on the right track and you might going to have to replace your voicemail card but not yet.
Put VM card back in. Start ACS.
What happens now?

Thanks again for giving great ideas on troubleshooting the issue. I'll try it on Monday and see what happens and post an update..

just an other thought, check that BOTH ports 78 and 79 are assigned as voicemail ports. They most likely are because you only have trouble with those two mailboxes but it won't harm.
To completely reinitialize 10 and 11 you could also assign the mailboxes to a completely different extension then back to 10 and 11 then you won't need to change the size and all users have to rerecord the greetings and so on.

If you can't be good, be good at it!

Thanks ignatkarobkin2!

You nailed it.. I Removed the VM Card and reinserted and powered back up and works like new again!

I put it in the other pc slot just in case, but she works perfect now, My customer and I greatly appreciate your help and experience on this one!
