Almost every morning between 8 and 8:10 a partner ACS goes dead for about a minute. All the lights on the phones light up breifly and then go dark for a short period of time. AFter that it works gret until the next morning.

Any suggestions?

do you have it running on a UPS ?

sounds to me like there is a power issue

Is you power outlet wired through a light switch that someone else is using?

Hi cycochris,
As skip555 implied, put the ACS on a UPS. Considering what the system is worth compared to a computer ...

I put in a midsize tie onyx system a few years back

I was back on a MAC and some woman corned me and started yapping about the phones have to come on before 7:30 since she started at 7 and there was no phone service untill 7:30 .....WTF ????

I hooked up my laptop and pulled up the error log and sure enough power down every day at 10:30 pm power up at 7:30 am

turned out my "dedicated " phone room circuit was tied into the hall lights that the maintince guy turned on at 7:30am and off again at 10:30pm

It is on a fairly new Cyberstar UPS that tests good. It's not connected to a lightswitch or any other timed outlets.
The problem is it will just powerdown for a few seconds then come back up. Then it's fine.

Just to note that the location is a pizza restaurant, but the system is in the locked owners office. It's also up close to the ceiling and pretty hard to get to.

Hi cycochris,
So ... look at the logs. That's what they are there for. You may find something unexpected or nothing, but take a look. You may be picking up a spike on a station cable. This may happen if the wires are laying across fluoresent lights. Try turning some off and on. What's on the other side of the carrier? Could a door or something knock the unit from the other side? The system won't do this by itself.

if it happens at the same time every day you need to look at what else is going on at the site that could be influncing it .

If it were me I would want to be on site a day or two when it was happening observing what else is going on .

have you confirmed that the entire system is going dwon and not just one station ?

8:00 is pretty early for a pizza place I would think only a couple of peaple in so maybe its just the one station

I would wonder if there is something going on with a back-up of some kind. Are you auto-backing up the voice mail then? Do you have a vendor that is dialing in and remotely backing up for you? Do you have an alarm company that does an auto-signal test of some kind?

The logs would show a some of that, expecially the vendor dialing in and resetting the ACS. "Software Initiated Reset" I think is how it is phrased.

We are the vendor, I'm just a newbie tech. No one is dialing in. It hasn't done it for the last day or two.
It has been backed up, and I haven't checked the logs. I guess that would be a good place to start.

I had a customer with magix. they had a similar issue. They had the system on a towermax surge suppressor that was then plugged into their UPS. When they lost power everything worked fine. It was when the power cme back on that their system would drop all calls and reset.
It turns out that there was a 1 volt increase when the power came back on and the tower max was seeing this as a surge and flicking the power off and back on.
There was no problem after bypassing the towermax.

you have to plug the ups into the towermax not the towermax into the ups

I found that out one nite when I decided to test a new install, I pulled the plug on the ups and and the phone switch did a quick reset

so if you have wall outlet , towermax then equipment you will be ok
