I installed used 308 standalone ACS a few months back.
I must have programmed for Auto backup, but no card.
Last week I disabled Auto backup.

Yesterday I took a back up card down there, backed it up I thought. Removed card.

Message never clears.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The RAC/Backup should stay in the ACS. You can't access the ACS remotely via the modem without the card. Why would you want to remove it?

Agreed. Keep the PCMCIA in the processor. Disable auto backup and then try another manual backup and see if that clears the alarm.

I had this happen last week on one. System didn't seem to see the card. Tried several in both slots, no luck. Customer mentioned some sort of storm/power issue.

The only way I could deal was as you all have said:

Turn off the auto backup.
Clear the Alarm.

Hope that the original PCMCIA translation is OK from before the issue started and if I ever need to replace the whole ACS proc, try to do a restore off of it. In my case, at least it's an R6.

Not sure what else to say. Good luck.

I think the saving grace is the fact that you can make a backup of the ACS on your PC with the Remote Access software. One more place you can have a copy for safe keeping, plus the other advantages, like making changes, then uploading it to the ACS and activating it.

Reason I kept the card is it was the only one I have , and because customer bargained me down on the used equipmentwith cabling and installation SEVERELY. Then he wanted two more 18D phones included in the deal.

There should still be new PCMCIA cards available and, of course, a lot of refurbished ones. If you stand to lose your shirt over a sale, don't be afraid to walk away. A good customer realizes that you need to make some kind of profit off of your work.

Hate to say this but if you needed to keep an RAC to come out ahead , you should have run away from not walked away from that type of customer, besides not getting paid what you should be worth their the ones you always seem to have trouble with, and have to go back as their never happy.

Yes I had to go back almost 5 months later. customer claimed Ext. 10 never worked. He had un plugged at KSU and put in some hokey burglar alarm. Then he ran the line seizure into the paging port.
