Acrobat V8 background colour

Hello All

I have just upgraded from Acrobat V6 to V8. As usual I went to the Preferences to create the same setup I had with version 6.

There is a background colour option. Here I opted for a very light blue. However, I got no such thing, only the same almost black background colour. Is this a known bug or have I got it wrong?
