Hi guys,
I know this is going to be a little non descriptive, but I will give you all the info I can!

I have a user who has been having some difficulty in launching Acrobat Reader v5.0. She is not doing anything strange, just trying to launch from Start -> Programs -> Acrobat Reader 5.0.

When she click on the icon, nothing happens. No errors not even any evident HDD activity.

Problem also happens when she tries to launch reader from Notes (via a PDF attachment).

Within our companies Intranet we have many PDF docs, and these can be viewed (via the Acrobat WEB integration).

She has been experiencing this issue for some time, however I saw her this morning and asked her to show me exactly what is happening and everything worked.

So right now im just trying to be a little pro-active and see if I can find the cause of the fault before it re-occurs.

I realise that this could be a fault with the OS (Windows XP Pro with SP1 on a Dell GX260 desktop), however this is the only application which she has been having difficulty with. We all run an SOE and no other computer within the organization is experiencing the same fault (11,000+). Easy out would be to re-build the machine, however I would rather find a resolution as she is part of the IT depts quality of service team :).

any help greatly appreciated.

Re launch from programs menu:

are the target and start locations for the icon properties correct?

Re launch from notes:

my computer, view, folder options, file types, adobe acrobat document, edit, edit -- does it show the right program?
I have a problem similar to this --trying to click on pdfs and getting an incorrect reader version -- stemming from installing an old program that uses an old reader version-it overwrote my newer acrobat installs-I had to rechange the association-and sometime have to rechange it again after system cleanups.

Reinstall Acrobat reader. I have had this a few times. Process - Uninstall Acrobat reader, then reboot and reinstall. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the info, I will give it a try. I think your are right!
