New gremlin surfaced recently on Win XP home. Now when I click on a pdf file, Acrobat starts, displays initial screen, and locks up the computer. CtrlAltDel will not close it ... gotta shut the bugger down manually to reboot. Uninstalled/reinstalled Acrobat 6 twice, and Acrobat 5 from a disk twice, all with the same result. What could be causing the program to hang? TIA

You need to clear your temp files on your PC. Click on start, run, and type in %temp% and hit enter. Delete everything that shows up in that folder. Try opening Acrobat again.

That did the trick! Mahalo nui loa! (that's Muchas Gracias) It's very interesting that when you access the temp folder in Windows Explorer, it doesn't show but a few files, whereas that %temp% trick shows stuff I never knew existed before, and PLENTY of it !!! Thanks again!
