I'm using CS 11, and make files. Then after saving when trying to open sometimes, I get the following error.

Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.

We are not making PDF's, we are saving the files as *.ai files.

Any help would be great. I've already checked out Adobe's site and tried the suggestions they have, moving it local or creating a new file and placing the bad file in the new file. Nothing is working.

...i'm wandering whether it is to do with the 'create pdf compatible file' option in the save dialogue, when saving as '.ai'. It has this option in CS2 though I cannot remember if it applies to CS, probably though...

...also a pdf option in the file handling and clipboard preferences could be causing the problem...

...try trashing the illustrator preferences if not already done so...
