I have created an auto-run CD for the PC, and was advised not to for the Mac (Virus/worm) and anyway the same disable of autorun can be set on both.

SO--
Any ideas on a single file to be clicked that will load Acrobat and the designated pdf?

I expect .bat files to do the job but what about Macs (asked on the forum but all ideas welcome)? And does it work on XP with DOS deleted?

I can't find any way to get Acrobat (4.0 min) to load with a file except as a command line qualifier - back to auto.inf and .bat files.

I do that for PC, and Auto run using auto.inf but I still prefer to add a bat file for those that switch off auto run (as a virus block). Shortcuts don't work. both bat and autorun force the user to use my copy of Acro.

Now I have been told about aliases on a Mac but is there any more info or do I have to wade through more stuff than I can absorb to get the gist?

Thanks for the thoughts - just off to surf to that link above.

Thanks 4 the link I have the pdf and it confirms my findings - shortcuts don't work on CD's because you have to specify the drive letter. But I have written an incredibly simple VB6 prog that just runs a shell but at least there is a way to read the drive you are on. I did write a BAT file that basically tested every drive letter from C: on till it found the files but my system has a removable hard drive and holes in the sequence so it can lock-up in a DOS window, not unheard of in other systems. Hence VB6
How do simple users get round this mountain (range) we have to climb?
