Hi

I'm a newcomer to Acrobat. I have a Word file which is 50.0KB when I convert it to .pdf via Acrobat Distiller it ends up as 127.5KB - I thought Acrobat was supposed to make things smaller not larger? I need to convert documents on a regular basis to .pdf format with a size of less than 100KB to put on a website.

How do I reduce the size of the pdf?

Help!

The PDF is a complete package. Your Word document calls on external images and fonts so the file size of the Word document does not accurately represent the total size of the document's components.

To strip your PDFs to the smallest possible size, use standard fonts like Times and Arial. These will not need to be embedded. In Distiller settings, make sure that font embedding is disabled, produce no thumbnails or other PDF fluff, and set bitmaps to maximum compression at 72 (or less, like 50) dpi.

Hi!

Tried this out last night and it worked just great - managed to reduce the file to 16kb. Thanks a million for the helping hand.
