Acrobat crashes when trying to access prefs under NT

We ave installed photoshop, illustrator, pagemaker, acrobat reader and acrobat on 6 NT4 boxes and get a message "Exception: access violation [0xc00000005], Address: 0x03741fe4 message on each one.
Anyone have any clues?
