After bringing up Acrobat in the form of an ActiveX controls 10-15 times + in a row logging out of windows will cause an error ("The instruction at '0x24002d13' referenced memory at '0x2400213'. The memory could not be 'read'. Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program.").

Has anyone seen this before?

Shell02,

Error "...The memory could not be 'read'" when you shut down Windows (Acrobat 7) can be found at:

Which recommends the most recent update:
New features and issues addressed in the Acrobat 7.0.5 Update (Acrobat and Adobe Reader for Windows and Mac OS)

Since you already have the most recent update - it would appear that the previous instance of Acrobat that was running has not released the memory it was using. So when the next instance of Acrobat wants to use the memory - it gets an error.

How is the ActiveX control releasing the memory?

Thank you, Samaba. I guess I don't understand exactly what information you are asking for. Could you please elaborate?

Shell02,
Please explain everything leading upto the error message.

What application is calling the activeX control?
Is this application correctly closing the activeX control, and releasing the memory used by acrobat?

Samaba

Since the application that I originally was referencing is an in-house application, I am going to take a step back. I can reproduce the issue by opening any PDF in Internet Explorer 10-15 times.

After opening and closing Acrobat 10-15 times, I checked the process running and Acrobat.exe continues to run and utilize memory. If I kill the Acrobat.exe process before I log off, the issue does not happen.

I also noticed that Acrobat.exe is still listed in the process, and utilizing the same amount of memory, when I just open a PDF once. When I log off in this instance, the issue does not occur.

Try deleting all files in the temp folder Acrobat uses, and see if the issue still occurs.

The credit for the following is thread223-877818
You need to clear your temp files on your PC. Click on start, run, and type in %temp% and hit enter. Delete everything that shows up in that folder. Try opening Acrobat again.

If still having issues, we will look further. . .

I gave this a try and am still can duplicate the issue.

I recently started having this issue on a computer with the reference numbers being different. It also showed a PDF Maker error in Word, during conversion to PDF. I uninstalled acrobat and reinstalled now things seem to be fine again.

FYI, I had also attempted a repair of Acrobat, which did not work.

Unfortunately, a reinstall doesn't appear to resolve the error.

One other thing is that Acrobat 5 was uninstalled before Acrobat 7.0.5 was installed. I am not sure if that comes into play at all or not. Regardless, I can reproduce the issue on multiple computers that are setup the same way.

Shell02,
I also had to uninstall all updates, then reapply them in the proper order. When I did the uninstall it didn't remove all of the updates, which caused more problems than it fixed. . .

I'm afraid I am out of ideas. Anyone else?
Samaba

Any further ideas on this? I continue to have the same problem on another image that I have built.
