Adobe Acrobat Reader has started behaving badly recently. It works OK as a standalone app, but things go awry when trying to view PDF docs in a browser. It doesn't matter whether I use IE or Firefox - as soon as I click on a PDF link, the browser executable zooms up to 100% of CPU and an awful lot of nothing happens. The only option is to kill the browser.

I read through last week's thread608-953718 (Acrobat 5 and 6 Configure one to open IE links) but didn't find any joy there.

The only thing that's changed since I last successfully looked at a PDF inside a browser is that I've installed Firefox.

Anyone any suggestions ?

Win2K Pro SP4
Adobe Reader 6.0.0
IE 6.0
Firefox 1.0

Cheers, Mike.

Do the update steps discussed in the thread you noted above.

Thanks Bill.

I upgraded to 6.0.1 Full and it worked fine on both FF and IE.

Now all I have to do is re-apply your tweak for faster startup (when I can find it again).

Cheers, Mike.
