Ok,

please no one yell at me. I want to know how i can view source of someone's flash presentation. Not to steal it, but to learn from it. That's how I learn most of my skills. I've already tried all the tutorials but the fla's areVERy rudimentary.

post only if your comfortable sharing how. I appreciate any help.

why don't you just browse through all of the previous post(or atleast as far as you want)..between dave design, oldnewbie, and all the others here there are probably hundreds of examples and fla's showing how to do certain things..pretty much everything you can think of has been answered in here..sometimes more than once
(re:clock again virt..sheesh. :) ..that is what i would recomend..

ps..you can not view source as you would for html..the only way you could view someone's work is if they sent you the fla..and that seems to be(to me atleast)a little much to ask..but when you start working in flash, and you get stuck on certain things this is the place to get your questions answered..

A good place to start would be to go thru the tutorials that ship within the Flash software. (I am assuming you have either flash 4 or 5)

After you have a good handle on the basics then you could ask specific questions dealing with what you are attempting to accomplish.

I completely understand the object of disecting something to see what makes it work but I think it is quite rudimentary as you say to completely understand the basic aspects then slowly work your way into things a little more complex.

Also ...there are sites like and trainingtools.com and others which do have lots of tutorials some with fla files that you can download and disect if you like.

Hope this helps. Ya' Gotta Love It!

For what it's worth, in the next couple of weeks I'll be sticking a list in the FAQ section of all the fla's I can find which I have created for tek-tips.

just a guess..but probably worth alot dave..will the links be there permantly?if so that would be cool..one more thing dave a while back you promised me that you would break down spinning cubes for me..like the one that's on pink zeppelin..if ya have time man..i would really like to understand some of the things that go into creating 3-d objects entirely in flash..like for what i'm working on now i would rally like to have a wire frame 3-d capital "E" spinning on my site..doesn't have to be where it moves according to any mouse position or roll over of buttons like on your site..but just the basics of having it spin would be great..if ya have time old man..if not, will wait till ya do..

carl

as I completely forgot the first request (memory like a sieve), I'll do you a wireframe 'E'. As for the expo, that'll still have to wait I'm afraid.

Hey Virt, you probably have heard of it already but theres a package called Swift3d ( which you can use to create and export any 3d shapes or animations direct to flash, including wireframe and fully rendered versions. Its incredibly intuitive and simple to use, and costs about $120 which is amazingly cheap for such a cool application. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and the possibilites are endless. indeed nick..that is the only program i have yet to acquire..i have bryce and poser but unfortunatly you have to import as image sequences..even with tracing bitmaps just a small E about 200/200 will up my file size from 20K to about 180k..is quite the pain in the u know what..but swift is next on the hit list..
